For vets and clinics
Invite codes and owner requests
How an owner gets the records of a pet you registered.
Invite codes
After registering a walk-in whose owner has no account, the invite code is ready on the next screen, and on the pet's page after that. Give the eight-character code to the owner, or let the prescription carry it: a live code is printed on the prescription PDF for that pet. When the owner uses it and the phone on their account matches the one you recorded, the pet moves onto their account straight away. If the phone does not match, or you recorded none, it comes to you under Owner requests instead, because a printed code can end up in anyone's hands. The owner's phone number is not printed on the prescription, for the same reason.
Owner requests
An owner without a code can ask for their pets when their phone or email matches what you recorded. They are told only that your clinic may have records for them, never which pets, until you approve. The request appears under Owner requests, one per pet, showing what you recorded beside what they gave.
A match is a hint, not proof. Numbers get recycled and emails get mistyped. Approve only when you recognise the person; approving hands them the pet's full history.
